This artist’s drawing gives a glimpse of what riders might experience on the Dark Knight Coaster, which debuts Wednesday at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee.
For Batman fans, Wednesday cannot come soon enough. That is when Six Flags Great America in Gurnee will debut the Dark Knight Coaster, the 300-acre park's first indoor dark ride. Housed in a seven-story building, the new coaster will transform guests into Gotham City citizens who are caught in the middle of a city under siege and torn apart by the Joker.

Our staff writers are talking all of the time. They are talking about the communities they cover, losing weight, eating foods grown in the area, and -- of course -- the Sox and the Cubs.  Why don't you join in? They'd like to hear what you have to say.

A.J. ready to catch hell in S.F.
There's so much more A.J. Pierzynski would like to say. What he'd like to tell the organization he believes tried to ruin his career. What he'd like to tell the fans who turned on him and made his one year in San Francisco a nightmare.

The mentor bender
They don't have a contraption at Wrigley Field that measures the loudest ovations, but Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster has a pretty good feel for these things. ''His was louder. Rightfully so. He deserves it,'' Dempster said with a smile of the ovation for the Padres' Greg Maddux, the former Cubs ace.

Pozdol sparkles as Sandburg rolls into semis

His team did much better than that, shutting out York in the second half and cruising to a 6-2 win to advance to Saturday's semifinals and clinch Sandburg's first state water polo trophy.

Words and music
What began as a formal promenade dance has morphed into an epic night of stretch Escalades, extravagant banquet halls and sparkly gowns that rival any wedding dress. Seeing less of a face-lift is a prom committee choosing a theme and song for the long-awaited night.
